I offer a 6-month full-time research assistant position associated to the project “Habitability space for biodiversity: applying Liebig’s Law of the Minimum to global change biogeography (CM/JIN/2019-003)” funded by Comunidad de Madrid. The candidate will join the team of Dr. Sara Villén-Pérez at the Department of Life Sciences at the Universidad de Alcalá, Spain.
Tasks:
The researcher will forecast the impact of climate change on the abundance of North American trees and discuss arising ecological patterns. We have ready-to-use climate and vegetation databases (from Forest Inventory and Analysis –FIA- Program) as well as specific modelling procedures available for this task. The work will be developed together with our collaborative research team and the results are expected to get published in a joint paper leaded by the hired researcher.
Conditions:
· Annual gross salary of 31.809 € (1.984 €/ month net).
· Expected starting date: 01/04/2021 (or earlier, if possible).
· Duration: 6 months.
Requirements:
· PhD in ecology, biology, environmental sciences, or related disciplines.
· Programming skills in R with emphasis in large datasets.
· Experience in ecological modelling and climate change forecasting.
· Advanced level of English.
