DARÍO SAN SEGUNDO MOLINA
PhD Student (2021-2025)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Ayuda de Formación de Profesorado Universitario (FPU)
Co-supervisor: Ignacio Morales-Castilla
I am interested in understanding the key mechanisms underlying biotic interactions in agroecosystems to perform future predictions combining physiological and biogeographical approaches. In my current research fellowship, I aim to disentangle the role of warming on herbivory in diverse plant-arthropod pest interactions among other environmental, biotic and anthropic drivers in a global change context.
CRISTINA GRAJERA
Former MSc Student (2022-2024)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Species Abundance
Co-supervisor: Julen Astigarraga, Verónica Cruz-Alonso
I am a Ecology master student with a great interest in biogeography. I'm learning to work with large databases for statistical studies. In my final master proyect I studied the latitudinal structure of environmental limiting factors in North America tree species.
JENNIFER MORALES-BARBERO
Former Postdoctoral Researcher (2021-2022)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Species Abundance
My interests lie in intersection between macroecology, macroevolution, biogeogrpahy and community ecology to understand the origin and maintenance of geographic patterns of biodiversity as well as the comprehension of mechnisms underlying species coexistence, especially on vertebrates. I have also been interested in a broad array of topics related to conservation biology and the improvement of predictive distribution models for their application in biogeography, paleontology or conservation biology.
DAVID PALOMINO
Former Postdoctoral Researcher (2020-2022)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Iberian Bird Trends
Since 1999 I am focused on the scientific study, control and improvement of both habitats and animal and plant populations, particularly in highly anthropized environments, identifying concrete measures to reconcile environmental conservation with different human needs.
CRISTINA GRAJERA
Former BSc Student & internship (2021-2022)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Species Abundance
Co-supervisor: Miguel Ángel Rodríguez
I am a Biology student with a great interest in ecology, biogeography and chorology. I'm learning to work with large databases for statistical studies. In my final degree proyect I'll be dealing with responses to climatic variables that depend on functional and physiological specific traits to several North America trees species
SERGIO HERVÍAS
Former BSc Student & internship (2020-2022)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Iberian Bird Trends
Co-supervisor: Fernanda Alves-Martins
I am a BsC student interested in the conservation and restoration of ecosystems affected by both climate change and anthropogenic activities. In my final graduation project I evaluate the effects of climatic alterations and changes in land use on the abundance of Picidae species in peninsular Spain.
KLEDSON LEMES
Former MSc Student (2019-2021)
Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso, Brazil
Associated to project: Mining Policy & Amazon Conservation
Co-supervisor: Dilermando Lima
I am currently a MsC student in Ecology, and Biodiversity Conservation at UFMT. My main research interest is to assess the origin of anthropic vegetation loss using satellite images on GIS environment. In my master's thesis I assess the direct and indirect impact of mining activities on deforestation at protected areas of the Amazon, including Strictly Protected Areas, Sustainable Use Protected Areas and Indigenous Lands.
FERNANDA ALVES-MARTINS
Former Postdoctoral Researcher (2020-2021)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Species Abundance
I am interested in understanding the determinants of biodiversity from a local and biogeographic perspective. I intend to investigate the processes under the assembly of local communities and the influence of regional biotas and regional scales factors in these processes. I am also very interested in studying how and why some species might present higher resilience to global warming.
MORGANA OLIVEIRA
Former BSc & MSc Student (2015-2019)
Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil
I am MsC in animal biodiversity interested in conservation. My expertise is on species distribution models at fine scale that combine climate and other factors such as vegetation cover. I have experience in handling wild animals, ecology, behavior and conservation.
I am currently researcher at the Laboratory of Theoretical Ecology, Metacommunities and Landscape Ecology at Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil.
LUISA ANAYA
Former MSc Student & internship (2018-2020)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Mining Policy & Amazon Conservation
I'm interested in understanding the impact of anthropic activities over the neotropical natural systems. I'm currently working in understanding the affectation of mining policy in Brazil on threatened Amazonian species.
VIVIANA CABEZAS
Former MSc Student & internship
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Mining Policy & Amazon Conservation
Co-supervisor: Fernando Resende
I'm an environmental engineer with knowledge in law, consulting, conservation and restoration. My MsC thesis is on the impact of mining and mining code changes on the conservation of ecosystem services at protected areas of the brazilian Cerrado biome.

Former BSc Student & internship (2020-2021)
Universidad de Alcalá, Spain
Associated to project: Climate Change & Species Abundance
Co-supervisor: Fernanda Alves-Martins
I am BsC student interested in conservation and biogeography. In my final degree project I intend to evaluate the effect of climate in forest attributes, like recruitment and mortality, on several species of North American trees.
SHEILA PINDADO SANZ-CRUZADO
Former BSc Student (2018-2019)
